Klinik - Band Discussion

We have returned! A slightly different format this time -- discussing a band in general rather than a specific track -- and a much more sophisticated video camera. Let us know what you think!

Aesthetische - "Less But More"

After a short delay, we're back with a discussion of Aesthetische's "Less But More", a new release from former members of the Brazilian electro-industrial act Aghast View.

Agent Side Grinder - "Wolf Hour"

We were pretty tired and a little loopy when we made this clip about Swedish minimal electronic/post-punk act Agent Side Grinder. Hopefully it doesn't show too much.

Haujobb - "Dead Market"

Haujobb's most recent album, New World March, came out a while back, but Coty and I have just recently gotten around to listening it. But my fanboyish devotion to the Dusseldorf masters of futuristic electronics hasn't waned at all, as you'll see in the latest installment of Hit Eject:

(At one point we were considering covering a video that wasn't industrial at all, but we're still deciding if we really want to talk about the song in question or not.)

We like to cover songs that have music videos when we can, but there's way too much good stuff out there without "official video" clips for us to be strict about that. So, please let us know if you've got any suggestions for songs for us to review!

Continues - "Reckless Heart"

In our third and latest video, we discuss "Reckless Heart" by Dan Gatto's minimal synthpop project, Continues.
A few mistakes crept into this one, most which I'll let our viewers pick out on their own. The big one was that we mention wanting to include links to both a live performance and the album version of "Reckless Heart" in the playlist. Unfortunately, during the time between shooting and editing, the clip of the album version was removed from YouTube. Fear not, though: you can stream it from Continues' Bandcamp page.

If you like "Restless Heart", Coty and I mentioned Absolute Body Control and Klangstabil as a couple of projects that might interest you. We thought it would be nice to give you some links to sample their work:

Absolute Body Control - "Into the Light"

Klangstabil - "Math & Emotion"

Watch, listen and enjoy.

Hocico - "Dead Trust" / Forces - "Overland (In My Mind)"

My wife Coty and I recently kicked off a video series where we discuss music. We've both been devoted listeners of what I'll call dark electronic music (for lack of a better term) for a long time, so we've got a lot to talk about. We've created a series called Hit Eject where rather than covering a band's entire discography, or even an entire album, we focus on one song.

In our first video, we discuss "Dead Trust", a new track by an old favorite --  Hocico. Coty and I have been fans of the Mexican harsh electro act for years, so even with the self-imposed limitation of covering one song, we ended up having a lot to say:

But we want to be sure we don't just talk about well-established projects, so we highlight the work of some newcomers in our second clip. We've been impressed with the Australian EBM duo Forces recently. Their music video for "Overland (In My Mind)" is the topic of our dicussion:

There's a steadily growing list of songs we think are deserving of the spotlight, so we should be able to make Hit Eject a long-running feature. We're still very new to the whole experience of shooting, editing, and uploading video, so we've got a lot to learn, but we're having a lot of fun working on these.

Please let us know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions for songs for us to feature in future installments of Hit Eject!
